Nick Mason was born in Buffalo, NY and grew up in a family of drummers. His Grandfather, Uncle, a number of cousins and even his Mother all sat behind the kit. He was given his first snare drum at age two, and in sixth grade he began proper instruction, taking lessons in all forms of percussion. By age fourteen the influences of rock and roll within his family settled him on drum set, he began private lessons with John A. Fatta and still continues his education to this day.
A few years into high school Nick began to perform with other local musicians and started his first rock band, Lurid. Around age eighteen he followed in the steps of his mentor and started to teach private drum lessons. It was at this time that his career as a musician started to bloom and he found himself touring and recording with award winning acts such as the Voodoo Dollies, Mad Yellow Sun and several others.
Nick is now a highly in demand session player and teacher, having done guest appearances with international recording artists, Shania Twain and Pigface, and performing over 100 live shows each year. From 2004 to 2007 he held the position of Artist Relations Manager for Regal Tip Drumsticks, and now Film and TV have been added to his resume, with music and videos for Troma Entertainment's Poultrygeist! Night of the Chicken Dead, and Red Scream Film's Prison of the Psychotic Damned. Nick can be seen weekly on the ABC network's Official heat, a music news and entertainment program.
Frequently he can be seen throughout the pages of international drum magazines and officially endorses Peace Drums and Percussion, Istanbul Agop Cymbals, Ahead Drumsticks, Aquarian Drumheads, Coffin Case and Eliptical FX.
